Here is a new creation of mine which I wrote just yesterday sitting in my clinics posting as there were not many patients to see... Seeing the suffering of so many people in the world, I thought of writing a poem from the viewpoints of different people like a child, an elder sibling, a teen, a professional, a person trying to prove his innocence, victims of domestic abuse, terrorism and dowry and the like. It's just a random thought that came to mind and I penned down a few lines. So here goes...
Why Me??
Crimson drops spout from the gash
on my finger - a tiny accident
I cry in pain, my tears in vain
as i wonder - why me?
Little brother and me, so cheerfully
have fun making a mess
When Mother scolds, my heart can't hold
as i wonder - why me?
The world in full gear, so rapidly
changing and morphing everyday
Competition tough, my path is rough
as i wonder - why me?
A hectic day, my breath away
Full of deadlines and requests
My back bent, exhausted and spent
as i wonder - why me?
Allies and advocates abandon me
as i struggle alone
No respite, only bruise and spite
as i wonder - why me?
No love can i expect from him
but drunk thrashings and whips
I shiver in dread, my kids in bed
as i wonder - why me?
My pretty home blasted apart
Shrapnel and death around me
What i valued most, I have all lost
as i wonder - why me?
My greedy in-laws have gone away
Left me with shattered bridal dreams
I feel so hollow, unending sorrow
as i wonder - why me?
But i realize that I SURVIVED!
My experiences have only strengthened me
I lift my face, with joy and peace
'Coz now i know 'Why me?'
great piece of poetry, continue to write
